Butterfly Season

I borrowed my neighbors camera the other day because I'm looking to purchase a new SLR camera. The tree in front of my house has this sappy substance coming out of it this time of year and the butterflies love it! There has been dozens of butterflies flying around it for weeks.

It seems that butterflies are not as numerous as they once were. It's so nice to have a tree that attracts them right in your front yard. I know my cats are loving it as well. Teddy sits by the front door ALL day watching them. Here is Emmitt sitting under the tree trying to catch one.

Green Tree

I made this embroidered tree for my dad for father's day. I had a hard time thinking of what I could make him. I decided to embroider a tree, later I found this Chinese proverb and thought it was perfect. It took me a while to make. I later put it in a 5"x7" wood frame. It reminds me of these antique framed quotes that my mom used to collect. They would saying something like "Merry Christmas from Emily 1875."

I guess in a hundred years or so it will be one of those antiques pictures. Perhaps I should date it? I'm happy with how it came out and I think my dad will be happy as well.

A Sunny Rainy Day

I saw this rainbow the other day on my way home from work. I can't even remember the last time I saw a rainbow. I had forgotten all about them. It was nice though, it reminded me of being little, and wondering where the end was.

I Heart My Bike

I just got this bell for my bike. I think it's funny. All of the kids will be so jealous!

Antique Road Trip

My mom and I set out last weekend to Richmond, Indiana for an antique show. The last time I went to an antique show I was probably 14 years old; prices have increased slightly. We walked around for an hour or so, that was about all we could take of the country and the prices. On the way back we decided to stop at a little town called Fairhaven because they were having an antique festival. This house sat in the middle of the little town. I really like this picture. It was a beautiful day of slowing down and appreciating a little history. This picture gives me that feeling.

On our way out of Fairhaven, we saw this field full of sheep and cows. I had to stop an take a picture. This lama stands and stares at me while he protects his sheep.
